5.30-7.30pm Launch meeting at Hayesfield Girls' School, Brougham Hayes Campus
A chance to meet other participants and the course leaders.
Language and Maths placement tests.
Registration on the online courses.
Term 2 2017
Online courses begin
Term 4 2018 SATURDAY session (date to be confirmed)
All day (10.00-4pm) at Hayesfield Girls' School, Brougham Hayes Campus
A day focussing on improving skills in Maths or acquiring new skills in a language
The MFL language session will focus on:
• confidence in oral fluency - phonics
• speaking and listening skills
• reading and writing skills
• grammatical structures and tenses
• acquiring vocabulary and structures aligned to the Key Stage 3 curriculum
The course takes into account the fact that delegates already have advanced language-learning skills, understand grammatical structures and wish to fast-track their learning. This course is for language teachers with little or no previous knowledge of Spanish/French or German.
Term 5 2018 (date to be confirmed)
All day ay Hayesfield Girls' School, Brougham Hayes Campus or Bath Spa University
A day focussing on pedagogy at KS3 and 4
The MFL pedagogy sessions will consist of:
- Use of target language
- Planning and preparing high-quality lessons and looking at frequently asked questions
- Teaching grammar
- Getting ready for the GCSE exams
- Using ICT to teach MFL
Term 6 2018 (date and times to be confirmed)
All day at Hayesfield Girls' School, Brougham Hayes Campus
A day of lesson observations and the opportunity to teach a lesson at KS3
